Discover Vesterålen’s Coastal Landscapes
Discover some of Vesterålen's most spectacular coastal landscapes on this full-day photography tour. Travel through quiet mountain valleys, along dramatic coastlines, and visit charming fishing villages with continuous opportunities to capture unforgettable images.
Beginning in Sortland, the journey crosses through the scenic Holmstad Valley toward the west coast. The first major stop is Sandvika Beach, where white sand meets crystal-clear Arctic waters, followed by Hovden, a picturesque fishing village surrounded by mountain peaks and the open ocean.
The centerpiece of the tour is the historic village of Nyksund, one of Norway's best-preserved fishing communities. Here, you will have time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or café. If desired, your guide can take you on a short walking tour through the village, sharing insights into Nyksund's rich history, local culture, and its transformation from an abandoned fishing village into a vibrant hub for artists, photographers, and travelers.
On the return drive to Sortland, the route follows the scenic Lifjord, offering stunning fjord scenery and chances to spot local wildlife such as white-tailed eagles, seals, otters, moose, and coastal birds.
